Claytan Oriental Ceramics was founded by Mr Tan Chong Cheng in 1973. Since his passing in 2016 his third son, Mr. Tan Chong Jen has been managing this family business.

“CLAYTAN”, the brand name – comes from two words: “clay” which refers to the clay or ceramic business, and “Tan”, the surname of the family.

CLAYTAN has 47 years of experience in the production of ceramic tableware. It produces averagely 3.6 million pieces per annum.

80% of its products are exported worldwide. To-date, its product is marketed in 53 countries.

As we all know, sand and clay are the two main raw materials for the production of ceramic tableware. However, it takes many manufacturing processes to turn grains of sand and a handful of clay into a ceramic bowl or plate.

In the process, each piece of tableware is being worked with care by many pairs of skillful hands.

It undergoes two firings: the first at 1180 degrees Celsius for 23 hours and the second at 1080 degrees Celsius for 12 hours. Certain tableware need to undergo a third firing to complete the process.

It's just like forging a precious sword with incomparable hard work and care. In the end, we deliver the best and most satisfying exquisite ceramic tableware to our valued customers.

CLAYTAN high-quality ceramic tableware can hold boiling soup or extremely hot food without the need to worry about the chemical effect unlike plastic ware.

Claytan high-quality tableware taken out from the refrigerator can be put directly into the microwave oven.

Its second firing at 1080 degrees Celsius is to let the decoration color ink completely melt into the ware to achieve 100% scratch-resistant quality.

In order to gain international recognition, Claytan Oriental Ceramics’ English fine earthenware, is developed from a combination of Japanese and British technology.

Claytan not only has the exclusive technology of producing Underglaze Decoration in Malaysia, but also the technology of Direct Transfer Pad Printing and 3-Pin Firing.

All these skills and technologies make the product comparable to any internationally well-known brand in the market.
